| What would you pay for a mixed dog? I don't want to start a controversy here. I know some of you don't agree with 'purposely' mixing breeds. But, for those of you who don't have a problem with it, how much would you pay for a purposely mixed dog? As many of you may already know, I am in search of a playmate for Esme, and my husband wants me to look around and see whats out there. He also doesn't want to spend as much as we did on Esme. Of course, I know she's worth every penny, but he can be hard headed sometimes. Anyhow, in my search for the perfect companion for Esme, I have come accross some mixes. Some are ridiculously expensive, but some are A LOT cheaper than purchasing another yorkie. Of course I am still looking into rescues, etc, but most of those dogs are older and Esme needs a pup who can keep up with her. Thanks guys!

| Well, I am not to good at answering this question because I paid $700 for memphis and he is a mix. But my reason for paying that much was because if I didn'the was going to be used for pit bull bait. However, I would more than likely pay a few hundred no more than $400 i would say for a mix. But then again I would be picky about the mix. I would want either a yorkie/maltese, yorkie/chihuahua, or a yorkie-poo. What kind of mixes were you looking into?? |

| chi/pom would be a great mix I think. Just curious, what are they asking for it? I love chihuahuas. I think they are great little dogs and it would make a great playmate for Esme. |

| That isn't really a bad price considering that they are a "designer" dog at the moment. Seems pretty cheap compared to some of the other pricing I have seen on the same kind of mix. |

| Oh I know, I was actually just looking to see what they were priced at there on the net. $450 is cheap I would say compared to what I have been finding. |

| I wouldn't pay much, What ever the adoption fee was!! I think it is around $30.00 where I live. But, I'm probably not the norm.. There is a lady that I work with who wants a Labadoddle. (labador/poodle mix) and she says they are going with $1600. Which I think is highway robbery..(but that s me!!)

I'm not a "big dog" person but if I ever got one I would want one that doesn't shed! My husband is not a poodle person but I bet he would love a "labradoodle" if I could convince him that a mix isn't bad. My husband is a big "papers snob" as I teased him b/c when we 1st shopped for a dog, I found plenty of cute yorkie/maltese mixes in town for a great price but my husband said no way. He wouldn't get a dog unless it was registered with the AKC. The "non-shedding" issue is a big deal to me and my hubby also. Now that we have a purebred I don't think I could get a mix, for a toy breed anyway...so I don't know what I'd say I'd pay for it. But back when I was looking at mixes I wouldn't pay more than $250, that was max.
