No Longer a Member | Hoping.. More people will see this on General Topic. Bubba (4mo min schnauzer) has mucus and worms in his poo. It's the same ones I found when he was a baby, so it is tapeworms. Is it ok to run down to the feed store and pick up a pill or should I wait til monday and get one from his vet? He acts fine, eats and drinks. Bubba is 5 1/2lbs. Any thoughts? |

No Longer a Member | I apologize for asking a question about my Bubba on a Yorkie board. I thought a baby is a baby and there are many knowledgable people here of which I have made many friends. Joanne, appreciate your comment about Bubba, he is Gizmo's bestest fwiend. I will do some searching online, thanks anyway. |

| No need to apologies, we are ALL pet lovers here (yorkie or not-yorkie). I wish I had an answer for you, but I have never dealt with tape worms. I am sure someone will chime in soon |

| When we first got our female she had tapeworms. They looked like like grains of rice in the area when she slept. I don't have experience with feed stores but a good vet will want the see a sample of the stool and examine it before giving medication to make sure they are treating the right kind of wigglers.

| Most wormers are for hookworms and roundworms. If you suspect tapeworms, make sure you buy a product labeled for them. Dogs get tapeworms by ingesting fleas so if your dog hasn't had fleas, most likely it isn't tapeworms. As someone posted earlier, they look like rice grains in the poo but if a segment doesn't break off, you may never see anything. They don't always show up in fecal tests unless a piece breaks off so it can be tricky to find them. |

| I agree with the above posters. I would not give him anything until you've had him tested by a vet.. wormers are chemicals and you want to be pretty specific about what you give them. It's just safest that way.
