| I just took lily to the vet for this issue she was nibbling her paws and scratching a little. My vet said it is definitely allergies but the only way to tell what the problem is is to do food tests, skin scrap and or blood work. You can put them on Rx food and if it goes away you will know it is definitely the food and not environmental. Then my vet said we would then introduce her to knew things gradually until we figure out what triggers it, it is much less $ to do this than get the tests done.As long as they are not sever allergies.

| I was recently watching something on the animal planet wherea dog was obsessiving licking it paw pads and basically where its "wrists" would be if it were a person. The vet said that when doggies have allergies, this "wrist" and front paw area can get just as itchy as a mosquito bite and that is why the pups will nibble and lick that area...to try and get relief. ~ You learn something new everyday.

| I had this same question to my Vet and he had said that they lick/nibble their paws because they are uncomfortable. That's when the guessing game begins.... |
