| DE-BARKING dogs I just cannot stomach what I just watched on Inside Edition a couple of minutes ago. First of all, the title thread is putting it lightly. What they actually do to the dogs is cut out their vocal chords to "soften" their barks or to completely eliminate it. For christ's sake! Barking for dogs is their way of somehow talking to us. They keep strangers away and because of the barking, have had so many instances where they have saved their owner's lives. This is inhumane and I hope the people who are considering this would think twice. I love my dogs and I love their barks. There's no amount of money that would even make me do this to them. Why can't they just train their dogs properly? NO TO DEBARKING!!! |

| I know what you mean. I cannot imagine it at all. That was one of the ways Muffin "talked" to me and told me what she wanted. If I was in another room and she wanted to play, she'd stand by her toys and bark until I came to play with her. I thought it was sooooo cute! Now, Kacee has only "spoken" very little, but when she has done it, it was her speaking to me. She wasn't barking at anything she saw. |

| A lot of puppy millers de bark their dogs. What they do is ram a metal rod down the dog's throat. It's totally disgusting. I'd like to de bark them and see how they like it!

| It is an awful practice. I know of dogs in my area that this inhumane procedure has been done to also. And your right, as long as we have three Yorkies we never have to worry about anyone breaking in or shelling out for a doorbell. I'm sure Christ wouldn't approve either... |

| If you saw a clip of the featured story, I think you'd cry and would just want to yell at their owners. The poor dog sounded like she was crying. And they live to protect us and love us, I cannot imagine having someone take that away from them. |

| As much as Chachis barking drives me up a wall sometimes I could never do this. It seems like such a cruel procedure! I wonder how many people really do this and if they feel any quilt about it.
