| Spilled Water So my 8 mo. old Yorkie just started a new bad habit. He is CONSTANTLY tipping over his water bowl. He will tip it over (so the water spills everywhere) and then drag it around empty. I fill it up, he knocks it over again. Then he is left with no water, and dying of thirst (like when I am not home and leave him in the playpen) Why is he doing this all of a sudden, and how can I get him to stop? Also, do your yorkie's get skitzo all of a sudden, and just run laps around the house/room at the speed of light, and then just stop and start coughing like nuts? Bandit runs so fast, his ears are flapping in the air...very cute and disturbing at the same time

| I would change bowls. They have some that are weighted at the bottom, that should help with the tipping. I have seen some dogs do that at the dog park. But, I think it may wind up being a training thing. Is he board? |

That "skitzo" thing is referred to most of us as the "yorkie zoomies". My boys do this at least a couple times a day. At night when it's time for bed, they usually go nuts for a few minutes....like they're getting rid of that last bit of energy before going to sleep. Then, off to bed with mommy they go lol

| Yes, mine go skitzo every once in a while and run like crazy but...they have to play so I just stand back and enjoy the activity. As for the water dish dilemma...you might want to try a water bottle. I have a 'swimmer' she loves to dig in the bowl until it's empty. I bought stainless steel dishes that hang in their kennel for when I'm gone and a large water bottle that hangs on the outside of the kennel for when they're out running around and things are much better now. No more messes to clean up and no more wet faces to track a river across the room! |

I nearly burst out laughing when I read this because BOTH of these things Teddy did. I'm sure it was cute once or twice but I can understand how it can grate your nerves to have your yorkie constantly spilling water. Get another bowl thats a little heavier. Maybe then he won't be able to pick it up. As for running like to speed of light, he did it this morning. Its so funny to me!! Have fun with your yorkie!

| Gizzie would do this when she was left in her crate and so my ex husband got creative and drilled 2 tiny holes in the side of her bowl and we used bread ties to fasten the bowl to the side of her crate we outsmarted the little stinker

Donating YT Addict | My little guy will throw his bowls around so I got the Le Bistro dog waterer. It holds about a gallon and is to heavy for him to move. (you can get them most places, I got mine at Target) He'll never drink that much so I just empty and clean it and refill it with freah water twice a week, but my floors are dry.

| Ah Yes, my little Miss Katie does the same thing...she loves to run laps around the house and she does it every day. I actually get a kick out of it and encourage her by pretending to chase her. I figure if she has the energy she might as well burn it off so she's not waking me up all night wanting to play. |

We love when he gets the "zoomies" it is the most funniest thing. We just stand back and say 'uh oh....here it comes...watch out". it is so cute LMAO! I love my lil stinker....I don't know how I lived all these years without him

| that is so cute Chelsea does the same runs like crazy around the house than just stop too; I think they get an energized. Have you ever tried catching a Yorkie – Good Luck…She has gotten out of her leash and takes off down the street….luckily we have been able to get her with lots of scolding…they do have amazing personalities.. that’s why we love them so much…

| Tatums used to knock her food bowl around until she had it all dumped out but didn't mess with the water. We got heavier bowls and that activity stopped! She still will paw at it and scoot it a little but it won't tip over. Mostly she just does that now to get our attention so we'll know it's empty.
