Hello...I am new to Yorkies and am trying to adjust to my little Bear......I already have a 2 year old Jack Russell and I am feeling bad for her.....Not sure if this was a fair thing to do by buying a little puppy.

Well, just wanted to say hello and vent a little

I'm sure everything will work out okay! I brought Tessa home when she was 10wks and my BorderCollieXLab is 11yrs. She wasn't too impressed with having a puppy in the house but after about 2 weeks, they were playing together like they had always been together. It was just what Misty needed to make her feel young again. She now runs around and plays with Tessa all the time now but if she feels like Tessa is bugging her, she will "correct" Tessa and Tessa then knows to leave her alone for awhile.

Give it some time and they will be fine.

First of all: Welcome to YT!!!!

Glad to have you and bear. I know where you're coming from. When I got Walker, we had 2 Lhasa Apsos (Max 17 and Bailey 10) and I felt a little guilty for adding a puppy. Then to make things worse, Max passed away 3 weeks after getting the puppy.

I couldn't help but think that he felt replaced or something. I know, it's silly. He was old and it was his time. Sometimes it's the best thing for an older dog though, to have a puppy around. They "make" them move more and then they start to play again.

Bailey has a bad back but the still wants to keep up with Walker and that's great. In time, they will be great friends. Yours too! Even if your Jack Russell feels left out right now, that will change. Trust me. When I got Bailey as a puppy, Max was furious, wanted nothing to do with him, peed just to prove his point, etc...I thought they would never get along. But they did. And when you have to leave them alone, they will always have each other for company. Look at it that way. Enjoy your new furbaby, they are so precious!!!! Let us all know how things are going. And again..

My prediction is that they will need a tiny bit of an adjustment period and then they will be best friends and you will wonder if your Jack Russel even remembers what it was like before your Yorkie arrived. My brother has a Jack Russel and I have taken my lil guy over for visits. My pup loves Jesse but it takes Jesse a while to get used to the pup each time....different tempraments for sure. They will balance each other out, you'll see.

Just wanted to say Welcome to YT!! I think with no time at all your Jack Russell will get use to the new puppy and they will be best of friends! I know it's a bit different but I take my guy Jeter over to my moms house to play with her 2 Yorkie girls. Her Sindee wanted nothing to do with Jeter at all the first few visits but now she chaises him about and they play so cute together!

to YT... I know you probably feel bad for your jack russell right now, but you wait, they will be best buds in no time!!! They will probably end up curling up together for bed!! You will be so glad you have them both.

It will take a while for your JRT to get used to having a sibling but in the end as long as you show her she is still very special it will be fine. Definitley takes a bit of time. It will work out.
