| Brought new furbaby home. I know this is a long story but I feel I have to tell what happened. I want to know if I'm wrong for thinking this? I called a number I got from another breeder, she said she had 1 male puppy that was ready now and some puppies that would not be ready till the end of May. I made an appointment to see him Friday, well I got done early Wed. was in connersville and called her to see if I could come and see him early, I was so excited I couldn't wait!!!! So I told her I would be there in 20 min. and she said that was fine. I drove up very nice house beautiful had Yorkie banner out front, I thought ok this looks good... I go inside and the house is beautiful Yorkie nic nacs everywhere. Didn't see any pups so I figured she had them put up. We go through the garage there is a large walk-in cage with a mommy and 4 tiny puppies, they are all so cute. Mom looks good and puppies look good. Then we go out to the back yard to the Yorkie house, very nice place there is one right inside the door, he's bigger than I thought but he is adorable. She said he is 7 mo. old so I want to see his parents they are very good looking, Dad is beautiful, I really like him. After some thought and showing her pictures of my furbabies I think to myself, this will be alright I won't have the late nites up with tiny baby. So We go inside and start filling out paperwork and she gives me a goodie bag, with food and what nots. We get on our way and he is quite nervous, which I new was normal. After we get to our location I put him on a leash and he does not know anything about that...ok. Well when I get home I get the bath tub ready for his bath, he smells like he has some kind of doggy deodorant on. Start bathing him and I think OMG his fur is falling out Get him out and start drying and brushing him his fur was all different lentghs, she said he had just been groomed!!!!!! I did not believe. Poor baby he has no social skills at all....I couldn't understand. After I thought about it I think she was running a puppy mill, she didn't socialize with the poor babies just use them to make money... the hole thing just really upsets me.. I feel like I paid to rescue this poor little fellow. I just don't know how to train one that has been in a 5 by 5 fenced room all his life. He is coming around, but I think that it's going to be a long process. Sorry this is so long and maybe boring to some, but I would like to know what other people think!!!!!!!!!!! |

YT 1000 Club Member | Oh, I am so sorry for your poor baby. Is their a way to give him back. I know you probably wouldn't want to because he was in those horrible conditions but it probably encourages her to keep breeding the way she is. If you feel that you are in no way taking him back, maybe you talk to her about her breeding practices and tell her some of your concerns.... Have you taken him to the vet yet? |

| I'm sorry you're feeling anxious about your new pup and his origins. Have you tried calling her to see if she can explain any of his actions to you? Is there any chance that he's just really nervous and he'll do better in a few days? He's still a baby so hopefully he's just in shock at the changes in his behavior. Did she give any explanation as to why she didn't have the dogs in her house with her? It sounds like the pups had nice accommodations, but we all know they love to be with their people. Does this breeder have a website? Good luck with your new baby. I live in Noblesville, are you anywhere close to me? Go love on your puppy and post pics as soon as possible. I can't want to see him!

| omg, that is an awful thing to sell a puppy with no social skills, he can be trained with love and stability and your being very consistent with him.. that is if your keeping him.. post picture's for us to see.. I really hate to see dogs being kept in cages with no socialization.. I play with mine and treat them like they were going to be mine..so I just do not understand this kind of treatment with dogs.. how much does he weigh, at what age.. I would love to see a picture...anne |

| He could still just be nervous about his surroundings. Although it doesn't sound like he was raised in ideal circumstances, it also doesn't sound like a puppy mill. I had one foster that I adopted out. She was super attached to me even though she had been exposed to other people and it took her several days to warm up and act "normal" around her new family. Good Luck with your new pup.

My furkids Donating Member | Thank God you found him! I would give him time. He will come around. As for the hair falling out...do you mean clumps of hair? When I bring the girls to the vets Sadie will start almost shedding hairs. The vet told me this is very normal when they are nervous. As for the leash....mine HATED the leash when I first put it on them. I think it scares them. With consistency they got alot better. After a while they will learn that the leash means a walk!

| Furbaby........... Quote:
He is getting along much better, having a problem with him hiking his leg on everything. Haven't had a male in over 20 years so I'm not really sure how to put a stop to this action. He is so adorable I could never take him back, my husband says that it was fate that took me to him. He is really sweet, my husband says there is no way he is going back. I don't really know what to say to the lady I got him from, I'm so mad and disappointed in her. My husband says we need to get all his hair cut even and when he gets a little older and his hair is all beautiful we need to send her a picture and let her know how beautiful he is. Cindy

As for Teddy I think he is going to be fine. I haven't had a male in a long time and am having some problems with him hiking his leg everywhere He always goes to where there is floor that has no carpet and lays, I think that is what he was used to, and he is more comfortable on the floor. He was not able to lay in a doggie bed or on carpet. Thanks..........

The lady didn't say why she didn't have any dogs in the house just that she had one for over 15 years and when he died she cried for 3 weeks. I just assumed that she had them put up because I was coming. The breeder does not have a website, I got her name from another breeder. I live in New Castle which is not that far from you. Do you breed Yorkies? I have 3 now since I got Teddy I also have a min pin and 1 calico cat. Cindy
