| Cordell is feeling better today... He woke me up at 4am by licking my nose, so we got up and went potty, and I just decided to stay up. I just made him a scrambled egg with a couple of pieces of chunk chicken in it, and he ate probably about 1/2, I would say. He's had his medicine that the vet gave him yesterday, and went outside again... one question though... Cordell was dehydrated yesterday according to his doc. He won't drink from a bowl, and hubby can only get him to drink from a glass with ice in it (at times). I have been giving him 3cc syringes-full of water that I have to make him drink. Any ideas on how to get Cordy to drink on his own? Now keep in mind that Cordy is almost 5 years old and his other human Mommy passed away, but we do know that he was babied and spoiled. To what extent, we don't know. And we don't know what has really happened in his little life in between there (from other Mommy going to heaven to now- us having him). No abuse, I'm sure. Advice from all of you folks that know Yorkies and their little quirks would be greatly appreciated! I just don't want him to get sick..... I'm so attached, I don't think I could stand it! |

| I am so happy to hear that your little Cordell is feeling better this morning. I went back to read the previous posts and it seems that this little guy has had a stressful few months and perhaps he is grieving for his former owner? I would just try to make sure that he eats enough and keep forcing the liquids until he settles in and feels more at home. Hopefully once he begins to feel that he is safe and secure .... he will be less stressed and will begin to eat and drink normally. |
