| Lily normally comes with me, my big dog stay at home most of the time but sometimes goes to doggie daycare for a change of pace. I do not know what I am going to do in the fall when I have to get a new job and leave my Lily home she has never been left more than 4 hours.

| We had to put Bear in a puppy pen (pet store has). He was alone all day with food, water, puppy pad, and safe toy. Regardless of what we did, we felt really guilty leaving them at home alone all day... its so sad. We got another pup and now they have eachother. If you absolutely cannot do that, then leave the radio or television on softly so there is some ambient noise. Also, since it sounds like you are a new puppy owner, might I suggest that you consider going straight for the washable puppy pads, rather than the disposable? Since you cannot watch him all day, you cannot stop him from eating / playing with it. We used to come home to ripped up puppy pad and poopees had flown everywhere. We were not happy and spent a lot of time in the bath and cleaning up. Washable are great! Congratulations BTW. I love my baby more than I ever thought I could. |

| It took me too long to type this and I didnt see that you wont have to leave him at home all day every day. That is not so bad, then. I would tucker the poor lil guy out with LOTS of exercise. Since dogs sleep alot anyhow, hopefully he'll take a nice long nap and then Mommy will be home! |

| Ive had here a while, shes 8 mo. now so 6 mo. we have had Roxi. but I was just seeing what everyone else does... guess we just got really lucky cause we leave her in the living room and kitchen (animal planet on the TV) with all her stuff and she seems to do great! goes potty where she needs to and all! Its just the guilt thing that gets to me....

| my husband works 5pm-5am and i work 8am-5pm so Jasmine is maybe alone for a 1/2 an hour for a couple days out of the week, she has run of the house though we got lucky with her she doesn't get into stuff, we leave the tv on for her and a pee pad in case when we arent there she can go if she has to and not have to hold it, but it works well for us! and Ive noticed when we are gone longer than that she comes to the door groggy eyed and the blanket and pillows on the couch are super warm where shes been sleeping, I don't think she minds having the house to herself sometimes!

| yeah its tough, but now that I dont cage her up in the play pen its much better... She doesnt even bark thatmuch when I leave (I stand outside the door for like 10 min!!) I think she just needed space to run and play while we are gone and I had to trust her at least once and try giving her the whole living room and kitchen.. and it worked out great, when I get in she is usually just waking up from a nap! But I kinda set my own schedule, but when I do work, its a lot of hours. But my boyfriend helps too.. But that darn GUILT!!!!!

| I believe Buddy sleeps all day long. I give him a couple of treats before I leave in the am and he waits for me to come home before he eats them Nothing is ever touched when I come home. I do play for 1/2 hr in the am with him everyday to make up for him being alone so much. He gets two walks in the am as well. 6 & 8. He's at the door when I open it every night with kisses for me. Every day is the same thing. We're very boring Bud and I. |

We have a similar plan each day - playtime starts about FIVE Thirty am with Miss Chanel...they eat a bit of dry food - then a walk at 7:30 - and again when I get home after the lonely little queens have had their chicken dinner.....They don't move from any door I leave from .... I hate leaving them when they've never been alone before (they'll be 6 & 4) and their devestated when I go but getting better....the hardest is when we have storms - I feel TOTAL GUILT not being home. | |

| Ours have the run of the house but their older babies. And with three of them I don't think they get lonely. |

| Samson is one of the un-lucky ones. My husband and I work all day so he's in his playpen from 7:30 am - approx 6:00 pm. I get up at 5:00 to spend some time playing with him until it's time to leave. In my guilt, I load his playpen with tons of toys and I always leave him treats with his food. Then we never go out at nite and rarely spend more than an hour away from the house on the weekend if ever. In fact, this evening instead of going out for a nice dinner we both felt guilty (and were having so much fun playing with Samson) that my husband went to go get carryout. When he gets old enough to be able to give him run of the house I'll feel less guilty.
