Okay so I did as everyone suggested ( or mostly ) and put Milo in his crate and kept taking him out every couple hours to go potty (outside). He went th first time, we let him play for about a half an hour. Then he started doing the wedgie walk ( hopefully most you know what this is ) so I had my hubby take him out again. He wouldn't go. It's now been about 10 hours and he hasn't pottied. If I let him run around the house he'll do it but he is refusing to potty on his pad or outside. I'm not yelling or anything, just saying softly but firmly "No Milo" and retaking him outside or putting him on the pad and saying "Potty". Outside he just sits and stares at us. I don't want to hurt him. Will doing this hurt him?

Is he drinking and eating? I'm not an expert. I'm not fond of crates. I use an x-pen with a blanket on one end and washable pad on the other. Learned that on YT and used that method on my last one and it has been successful.
Someone else will have better ideas.

Yes he is drinking and eating just fine.

I would say just keep doing what you are doing. If he does not go for you when you take him, just put him back in his crate for another 20 min or so, then take him back out. If you let him out in the house he will just go in the house. He will get it, it just takes some longer than others!

By "wedgie walk", do you mean he wants to poop? My pup went through a phase where he would not poop outside. He needs to go twice a day, usually around the same time. If he did not go around that time, I would crate him for about 20 min and keep taking him out until he went. He had no run of the house until he pooped. After about a month and a half he got it and started going outside. HTH!

Thanks guys! I'll keep trying then. I just hate hearing him cry. My husband says he's throwing a tantrum like one of our kids and that's why he's doing it, but it pulls at my heart strings.

Be sure to give him a bite-sized treat immediately when he potties in the right place. Positive reinforcement can really help. Other than that, just have patience and try to be consistant...these babies can be difficult to potty train. Good Luck
