| bath time help Hello, about three weeks ago i got a wonderful yorkie pup and i named her K'nute. She has been nothing less than an absolute joy! She is 11 weeks old and i am trying to get her used to weekly baths and daily brushings. However, whenever i give her a bath or try to brush her she is constantly trying to jump back in to my arms. This is especially scary when it's bath time and she is all wet. Does any body have any suggestions on how to get her to stay more still during baths and willing to stay on the table during brushings rather than trying to jump into my arms/lap? |

| Try brushing her on your lap. I do quite often. My doggies love it. Also have read on some threads that others do the same. It is very relaxing for a furbaby to be on your lap during a brushing.

| I bath, my babies and then take them out and dry and brush them on my lap, they love to cuddle, and they feel more secure!

| I don't have any advice for the bath squirms - I've been fortunate there. But as far as brushing - I keep a brush next to my chair and I brush her when she's in my lap, calm and ready for a nap. As far as that goes, I constantly touch her feet, ears, etc. shen she's napping or near napping - so she used to it when I need to care for her (i.e. nail cutting and ear drops). The poor lil thing - she can't get any peace around here -but she comes back for more! |

| this may sound odd... but what about getting INTO the tub with her? You could put on a swimming suit, talk soothingly to her and just 'play' a time or two... then work up to actually bathing her. Yorkie Yummies are a great enticer too!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | my yorkie gets a shower every weekend with me she has no choice but to stay in the tub because it has doors. she stays in there until i'm finished and she's finished. she also stays put in the kitchen sink when i have to bath her during the week (if she gets really dirty for some reason).

| Cooper was wiggly during his baths for the first few weeks. He eventually settled down and now stands dejectedly in the sink as I bathe him. Maybe your little pup will settle down during her baths, with time.

| I take my daughter's Yorkie in the shower with me and then I get a towel and dry her on the carpet in front of the vanity. She does like to get all wrapped up in the towel and she rubs her face on the carpet. Then I brush and dry her on low heat with the hair dryer. She seem to like it, and is real frisky after the bath. | Thanks for all the advice Everyone on this site seems so friendly! I've totally got the brushing her when she's napping down, I just didn't think that seemed like very good practice for when its time for the real deal at the groomers. Thanks for everyone for all the great bath time ideas |
