We joined YT years ago but haven't posted.

We love our yorkies but were wondering if this behavior is normal.

When we go to work, our normally playful dogs retreat to a bedroom and basically sleep all day. They seem fine and perk right up when we get home, but as long as we are away they do not play or anything; they just sleep.

I have attached pictures of Benson (male 3 yrs) and Ellie (female 2 yrs)

Hello and welcome.
They are very cute!!!!
My Momiji is usually sleeping when I'm not home. (I can see her through webcam!!)
She sometimes doesn't even pee all day!!!
But she is alone, yours have playmates.....
I think it is normal for them to just sleep while mom and dad are away.

My Momiji does bad thing some times when she is alone.....

Kayah does that.. well she's not really playful to begin with lol..

I'm not sure about Evie.. as we've only had her for a week and someone's always been home

I know somewhat how you feel. During the week Sasha and Jasmine are really boring and tired, but when it gets to be the weekend they perk up and play alot! Have you ever thought that maybe they get bored when you are gone and just want to sleep?

They are cute! I think that's very normal. Lacy sleeps a lot during the day even if I am home and then has her moments of activity.

Yes, normal. Mine sleep all day if I am not home.

Kassie sleeps all day even if we are home, she comes alive in the evening and bops on my head most of the night . We taped her while we were at work and she slept the day away too.

I once read that dogs sleep (normally) 20 hours a day..mine are always laying here sleeping(even the pup) unless I'm playing with them..they can't seem to figure out how to paly together without me being on the floor with them, even though there are 4 of them.

Yes, I think it's normal. My 2 I think sleep alot. I'd like to think it helps them loose track of the 8-plus hrs I'm gone.

Hmmm...wish I had that problem!!

hi buttons sleeps all day even when iam home, she goes in my daughters bed room and sleeps there, and gets active when she comes home from school, she might be missing her dad, hes in kandahar . buttons will be really excited when he returns

my babies both sleep if my fiancé and i have to be gone at the same time...they are sooo cute! when we get home, they pop up all bleary eyed and soon enough, they are raring to go

i think they are just saving up their energy and playfulness for when mommy and daddy get home

BTW, your babies are adorable!!!

Hi,

This behavior is normal for all dogs, not just Yorkies. My baby goes into his crate and sleeps all day while I am gone, and when I get home, he is playful and attentive. I wouldn't worry, your babies look happy and healthy to me!

Educate yourself and buy from reputable breeders or rescue.
