| I can't answer your question, but I'm sure someone here will. I definitely think you are making the right decision for her though. Welcome to YorkieTalk! Is that your little girl in your avatar? She is really pretty. What's her name?

| Having her spayed is definitely a great choice. Much healthier for your little yorkie. Of course there are always slight risks whenever there is a surgery.... but a good outcome outweighs that small risk! I really didn't notice a difference in Shelby when she was spayed. She was about 9 months old. She was very active and playful before and still is!... I don't know if anone else has had a different experience, but that was ours. Good Luck! & Welcome to YT!

| I'm so glad you are going to have her spayed! You are absolutely right about increasing her lifespan. Did you know that the risk of malignant mammary tumors in dogs spayed prior to their first heat is 0.05%. It is 8% for dog spayed after one heat, and 26% in dogs spayed after their second heat? I was just talking to a friend who does Maltese rescue who just took in the second female in just a couple of months with a mammary tumor. It's so sad when this cancer is preventable by early spaying. |

| It is very unlikely for her personality to change but there is definately a chance. Usually they get more aggressive only if they were really aggressive before the spay. It just adds to it. Ellie has quite the personality and can get snippy. Spaying did in fact seem to make it worse, so you never know. I am not happy about it but your girl should be fine. I am not saying not to spay but just wanted to be honest with you. I would do it again.

| Welcome to YT! I, for one, applaud your decision!!! I'll be surprised if you'll notice much difference in personality, and your girl will reap health benefits as well! Oh, and if you still aren't convinced you've made the right choice, see this!!!
