| Purina is not a good brand of dog food. I wouldn't feed it to mine. But getting into it at your friend's shouldn't hurt her. She could get an upset tummy if it's sensitive but I wouldn't worry about it. Lacy's on a raw diet. We're staying with my parents right now and their yorkie eats Iams kibble. I would never feed her Iams (or kibble period) but she's stolen a bite of food a couple times and I know it's not going to kill her.

| I really don't like Purina products at all and Royal Canin isn't much better. Ellie was on a Royal Canin vet diet and I found out she is allergic to the corn. A lot of Yorkies don't do well with RC. Aside from that RC is WAY overpriced and it isn't even really a good food. Could you go with something like Innova, Wellness, Natural Balance?

I don't like Iams because it doesn't have good ingredients and they do very inhumane animal testing. A raw diet is actually feeding raw meat. You can do prey model or prepackaged. I'm sure someone will be here soon to explain it. It is not somethin I would do...

| A raw diet is a diet that a dog would naturally eat. They are carnivores and do not digest carbs well. A raw diet is mostly meat, bones, and organs. Some of the pre-packaged has some veggies in it as well. a true raw diet has no grains in it at all. I feed Nature's Variety. www.naturesvariety.com I truly believe a raw diet is the best thing for most dogs since it is what they were designed to eat. Kibble has only been around for about 50 years. You can look in the diet & health section..there is a long thread about raw diets right now in that forum.

| My Zoe is very picky as well. We are feeding her Royal Canin but I think she is too underweight and she only eats when I assume she's really hungry. I free feed but she usually only eats it at night. Maybe a nibble here and there but for the most part, overnight. She loves my older dogs food but my older dog is on a senior diet so I'm sure it's not the best for her so I try to keep her away from it. I've been thinking of switching to the raw or anything really that will help her put on some weight. I would love suggestions too. |

| Purina really isn't a good food. There's a food analysis chart here on the forum that tells you how dog foods are rated. Hope you find it useful.

| It's much better for them than corn, wheat, rendered fats and oils, rotted meat, and all the other crap in commercial dog foods

| I feel Canidae All Life Stages and have been for over 2 years now. When I first made the change I was making a 120 mile round trip to pick up the food, but lucky for me I found it at a store only 25 miles away. All my dogs love the food, it even agrees with my elderly Boxer who has a very sensitive stomach. Their coats look FANTASTIC. |
