| Hello Hey all, i'm new to this forum and and just wanted to say hi. I'm getting a new Yorkie this Sunday and i've never had one before. I just wanted to know if any of you had any advice on how to make her comfortable and happy. And if it's also better to crate train her or to let her sleep in my bed. Thanks, Hailey. |

| hello! and welcome i am rather new too so i do not have a lot of advice...i am going to let my babies sleep in the bed with me...i will only use my crates when no one is home and only for short periods of time (couple hours max) ... i know my babies are not 100% potty trained yet so i will also let them wear little puppy diapers so they do not have accidents on my bed ... as far as making her happy, just be there with her, snuggle her, play with her but do not push it if she needs her "own" time... anyway, i just wanted to say hi and i am sure others with more experience than me will chime in soon!

| Welcome to YT Cant wait to see pics of your new baby I kept Meka in a play pen when I first got her. She slept in it next to my bed at night (so she could see me and vice versa) and during the day when I worked, she stayed in there as well... I was able to fit her bed, toys, pup pad and water bowl and left the TV on for her - and we never had any problems. Though as she got older she was able to climb out.. lol She didnt sleep with us and still doesnt (8 mo) because shes not completely potty trained and as you will see...there will be so many accidents. At that age, they cant hold it all night and usually have to go at some point. I use diapers when Meka is in heat and it is easy not to have to worry about accidents, however, I think it can hender the learning process if used too often... Congrats on your new baby...

| Congrats on your new baby, and welcome to YT. I would wait until your baby is puppy trained before letting them sleep in the bed.

| Welcome to YT. You might want to crate her at night until she's able to hold her bowel movements a little longer. Then move her to your bed. I'd keep the crate next to your bed.

| Welcome. Vickie always slept in bed with me. It could be better to train your puppy first, though. |

| Welcome Hailey! Glad to have you on YT! How exciting to bringing a new bundle of fur home - will love to see pics of her. I recommend a crate or playpen. It will be more restful for all. Plus it will help with the house breaking.

| Welcome!!! My babies sleep with me and have from day one. But not everyone does. It's personal preference and depends on whether your baby is house trained. I bought a teflon mattress protector from Walmart. It's material, but even if you spill a whole glass of water on it, the mattress will not get wet. That way, should your baby have an accident or get sick, you can strip the bed, throw everything in the washing machine and your mattress stays clean and dry! It's worth every penny!
