| Hate Having To Leave My Baby Alone... First of all, hello everyone. I'm new to the site but will post pix of my li'l handsome guy when I get home. (at work now--bored. lol) At any rate, I have a similar situation. I got Gizmo when he was 13 weeks. Was I realllyyyy ready for him? Maybe not. But he was just too cute for me to ignore. Well, my job is so unpredictable so for about four months he had to go live with my best friend. Well, there (NE) he was used to running around in the backyard and all that good stuff but here (MD) I live in apt. so I don't have the luxury of allowing him to run free. I missed him and that's why I went to get him recently but since he's had a taste of running around without being on a leash, I think he's bored and I don't want that. It's only been 2 days and he's done well with not being crated but I don't want him to start on a destructive path. Another thing is, by the time I get off he has all this energy so when it's bedtime, he's up and wants to play. He's been waking me up like at 1 a.m. I don't want to have to send him away again but I don't know what to do. He has plenty toys and I leave the t.v. on for him but are there other things he can do to play hard and sleep at night? Please help... |

| Doggie day care Is doggie day care an option? How about an electronic toy of some kind? Best yet... how about a friend... they don't like to be alone. Do you have a neighbor that stays home? elderly... might love the company Play real hard right before bed and try to wear him out w/ attention... commands... fetch...etc |

| i take my girls to doggy day care twice a week..also i take them on a long walk in the morning to drain the energy out. now that it's super cold, they each get 45 min on the tread mill in the morning. When i get home from work, i play fetch with them and also put them on the treadmill for 30min. it seems to work and they are ready to go to bed by 10pm and they get up between 6 and 7 am. the little ones have so much energy that you have to match the energy level..i tell ya i am pooped between 2 of them..but love them to death!

| I wish it was. I just don't have the money to put him in a doggie daycare. And no, no one I know in my apt complex stays home. Electronic toy? Never heard of them but I'm willing to try anything, everything. |

| i understand..daycare is certainly not the only option..just play really really hard with them..lol..well, tumi used to wake up in the middle of the night when her crate was in the other room but then i put the crate next to my bed at night so it solved the problem..i think they hate to be alone..now both girls have their crate next to our bed.

| well, in the begining i tie the leash around it and go on there with each of them..one at a time..but now they decided they don't want mommy to be on in with them so they like to be alone...tumi is the runner, she won't do it unless i have the speed at 2mph and gracie won't unless it's 1.3mph..funny things!! just have their fav. treats on hand in the beginning..cuz you will need lots of treats..took us a while to train gracie on the treadmill since we got her when she was 7months..tumi, we started her around 4months so she is a pro..she's 8 months now..lol

| I wish I could take him with me. Life would be grand. But...I think the military would frown on that idea. lol |
