| What do you think of this article on the best food for your dog? I wonder what you all think of this article I found on the web. It tells all of the bad ingredients in dog food and says you should feed your dog turkey, beef, chicken, turkey and oatmeal, brown rice, fresh raw vegetables and fresh fruit and yogurt eggs and cottage cheese. Sometimes, I myself wonder if this would not be a better diet for them then the ick that they put in dog food! Any thoughts? Go to : http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/hea...n/feeding.html Let me know what you think! Pat |

| I'm almost afraid to read it... I barely cook for my husband and I, and never during the work week!! (Thank goodness for takeout and prepared food!)

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Lol..My girls are 1/2 way there - they get bites of chicken almost every night - I specially cook it for them - but they eat mostly Eukanuba Natural Dry food. it's a shame when I'm in the store stocking up when it's on Sale...someone thinks I'm having a big cookout and I tell them it's not for me....but for 2 yorkies and a cocker |

| I have not read the article but, I already have issues with some recipes. Unless there is something used or done to maintain dental health dental problems could be a real problem. I read in one of the periodicals that I subscribe to, that it is very difficult to give the proper nutrients in the proper proportions. I am gonna check out the article and see how the foods stack up against commercial brands. Mine ge small bits of meat every night as bedtime treats. They start wanting to go to bed at 8 o'clock...doesn't take them long to learn food habits and eating. Why can't they be that easily house trained?? |

| hhhmmm...i would like to hear peoples views on this also. since i have been thinking about this too. i was just thinking that people say "don't give your dog" any kind of meat by products, corn, etc, etc, but with all the labels i have been researching on dog food most of them contain these "no no" ingredients. so it brought me to think, that you would think giving them fresh meats, veggies, fruits would be way better for them rather than all the junk found in these dog foods, it seems like none of them are safe.and with this world today and everyone just trying to make a buck no matter what the affects are on our dogs, just makes me wonder if these products are truely better for our babies.i'm so torn

| But look at the ingredients on any of them. BHT for one---known cancer causing. When we were kids our dogs ate nothing but so called people food and lived a long life mostly free from cancer and tumors etc. I give my Snoodles Greenies for her teeth, plus other dental chews--cut up in tiny bits, and brush her teeth once a day every day! It just bothers me when I read the ingredients in the hard dog food. Especially the meat by products---chicken beaks, feet, intestines, etc. I am really torn about this. Pat |

| I feed Natural Balance also and the ingredients are really good quality. You can get it at PETCO or some pet supply stores sell it too. I think it is fairly easy to find. |

| Thanks everyone! We don't have a Petco or any real pet store here. The one little pet store we have, won't carry dog food, because he says everyone buys it from Wal-Mart. Of course, they don't thave any food I can find that doesn't have animal by-products or BHT. Thanks! Pat |
