| Do you treat for fleas all year round? I was wondering about this. We have treated Koda monthly with Advantage from the vet's office since we got him. But I really don't like to do it. I know with our indoor/outdoor cat Mittens we had for 18 years we only had to treat him in from the spring till late fall. With our beagles who are kenneled outside we have them flea dipped. What do you do with your furbabies? |

| I dont' treat mine for fleas at all. For some reason they just don't get them. Maybe my yard is just unhospitable to fleas or something.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i don't only because i have never had flea problems with morgan. I do it every other month in the spring and summer and not at all in the fall/winter. I do however continue with the heartworm pills just so we don't have to do a HW test in the spring before going back on the pills.

| Ellie's vet requires heartworm tests yearly so I will stop the pills for a couple months this winter. I don't do any flea treatment at all unless she has them. I just don't feel right about putting pesticides into their bodies for nothing.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Honestly if your pet if on heartworm pills every month and you don't miss any they only need to be tested once every two years. i'd protest it unless you don't mind the yearly blood test and fee.

| I treat mine all year. I never know when my boyfriend is going to say lets go somewhere of the week or week-end. So I just put it on them because I never know where we are going and when. So I just like to make sure my boys are protected.

| I wish my yard was inhospitable for them, lol! We had him for about 3 weeks and then he had them. I don't know if it's the living out in the country thing? or what? Allie was the same way. we have "bombed" the house and everything. I feel embarrassed even asking about this but I take the steps i am supposed to and we are clean people, house and all, lol! |

| I don't like the idea of putting any of the flea treatments on Brody. I will though. We were trying to see how long we could spread out the monthly treatments. Hoping for a 6-8wk rotation. Guess we waited too long. Brody came home from his neuter with fleas. We never know when we'll have to go for an appointment or leave him over night. So better safe than sorry with the monthly, year round, treatments. /sigh
