Letting go of the pee pad

How do I train Izzy to start going potty outside instead of the pee pad? He's 10 months, he goes outside mainly when I take him for a walk. All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just start taking him out there more frequently. Stay with him and wait until he goes. If you're not already, start treating everytime he goes outside, and make a big deal out of it all happy-like--as if you're potty training him all over again. Start taking him out more frequently for a while, and then just stop having the pad in the house.

Good luck. We switched to outside very shortly after we got Chloe. I remember saying, "this beats the heck out of pads"!!

Thanks, Im tired of the pads. It was cool for a while but now its becoming a pain. I have to put them out of sight when company is around....who wants to look at a pad with pee and poop while you are socializing or eating for that matter? Also, since its been hot here (no air conditioning ) the heat makes the pee smell VERY strong!! When I come home it smells like funk...yuck!! Having hardwood floors helps but not too much!

Ain't that the TRUTH! I am working on that with Turbo right now myself. He has gotten better about not peeing/pooping in the main part of the house during the day. He only seems to do it when he is in his area, and the pad is close. GOOD LUCK!
