| Barking and crying in the crate PLEASE HELP!! My usual routine with Benjamin is to wake up about 5ish (he is usually crying to pee) I let him out of the crate to pee then i let him sleep with me in bed til I wake up about 7- 7:30ish... Then 7:30 I feed him and he usually poops (he is pretty good going poop on the pad ..Pee.. not so great) But anyway... When im getting in the shower i cant watch him so i put him in the crate... He barks and yells so loud... I have my landlord living up stairs and i definitely dont want them getting fed up with him.... SO since im crate training.. I cant let him out until he stops crying... If i sit there outside the crate long enough he will stop and i can let him out.....but I dont have time for that i gotta go to work... And i want him to be able to run around a little while before i leave the house... HOW DO I GET HIM TO STOP BARKING!!!!!???? Please help me Im going crazy!! |

| Maybe you need to let him run around after you feed him, and once he is in there do not take him out again. I do believe he will stop doing that, but if he knows you will take him out everyday he will not. Its hard but you have to be tough, let them cry and do not get them out for awhile after they stop. Mine use to cry all the time, now she knows when she goes in there it is for hours.........she never cries now. |

| yorkies are stubborn. LOL They will cry and bark untill you let them out :P But you gotta stay strong and not look at them (very important - I know it's hard not to). Try that for 10 mins straight and they'll just just sit or lay down because they just wasted 10 mins of ferocious barking energy...

| Would getting up earlier help? It would give you more time to play with him and help tire him out before you're putting him into the crate. I also gave mine a special 'crate only' treat so they looked forward to it. And yes, you do have to ignore those agonizing cries till they catch on, but hang in there, they are smart little pups and they will figure it out
