Sleeping During Night I have a 6 1/2 month old Yorkie, he hates to sleep thru the night. He is crated and around 2-4AM insist on barking, we let him out, he does his business and goes back in the crate until 5:30 AM and starts all over (his crate is in the living room, not in our bedroom which was worse, every time we made a noise or turned over he would wake up). Many a time we let him bark for 1/2 hour til 6 AM but he does not stop. Is this usual for 6 1/2 month old Yorkies. The big difference is, he was the smallest of his litter. When we got him at 16 weeks he only weighed 4.2 lbs, he is now 7.5 lbs. Does being the smallest slow down the progression of things, sleeping thru night, housebreaking? He is fine if in the crate and we let him in the same room as us when we are home, but once in a while we find an unexpected load in the corner of another room. He does not seem to get it that he is supposed to somehow tell us he has to go, we have to read the signals but sometimes there are none. He was neutered at 6 months. I am afraid to consider him housebroken until we find no more surprises. I never had anything but a mutt before and it was never this hard or took this long. He chews, chews, chews but we think he does not yet have all his adult teeth. |
