| Bella is not getting it! Hello everyone! My little Bella is not getting this potty training thing down! She is 12 weeks old and I am crate training her. I take her outside and she will pee and I give her a treat. Then I bring her in and play for a while, take her back out then bring her in for a nap. So, what is my problem you say??? Bella will not poop outside! As soon as I put her in her crate, she poops! She obviously didn't read her puppy manual that says DOGS DON'T POOP WHERE THEY SLEEP!!! I am a SAHM so she is only in her crate if I am picking kids up, or when she takes a nap but it is like she saves it until I put her in her crate. I have done the thing about only giving her enough room to lay down and turn around and she still does it. Anybody have any ideas???? Thanks!

| She is too young to be getting it yet. House breaking takes time and patience. think of it as tryhing to communicate with someone from a different planet. If they aren't getting it, you need to try something else. But at this age, it's like trying to train a baby. In the meantime keep them confined to hard surface floors and keep plenty of pee pads in their favorite spots. Try pee pads instead of the crate, it doesn't pay to keep using the crate if she is pooping in it. Just makes more work for you. |

| Thanks! I will try that. I have a play pen for her. I will buy the netting that goes over it since she climbs right out. We tried leaving her confined to the kitchen and we quickly found out bella LOVES to chew tables, chairs, base boards, EVEN WALLS! She's lucky she is so darn cute! Thanks again!

| My boy would poop in his tiny crate as a small pup and go back to sleep... I put him in xpen and that solved the problem. Just make it small, with enough space only for pad, toys, food and bed (at the beginning). That should make her go on pad since other areas are covered with toys, food etc. And maybe clear deodoarnt would work on the wooden cabinets etc she's biting? At one point I had all cables, adaptors (they hum and it attracted Pepper ) and furniture corners covered in deo. He's 6 months and doesn't chew anymore and is potty trained.

| I am definately going to try that clear deoderant!!! I put her in the playpen with netting over the top so she won't fall out and get hurt and she actually did go on the mat! Thanks!!!
