| the barking won't stop! Hi all, this is a plea for my sanity!! haha .. jk jk .. well half jokingly. My parents have a yorkie named baloo, and he keeps barking THROUGH the night. No matter what we do, take him out to go potty/ignore the barking/tell him no/give him food or water b/c maybe he's hungry/wait until he's quiet for more than five minutes then give praise. .... he just keeps barking, please HELP!! |

| You didn't say how old the dog is, or if your crating it. I know Venus quit that at night, once I let her sleep with me, lol. I know when I crated Venus, I had to tell her many times when we'd go to bed "goodnight" and keep ignoring her. If she'd whine again, I'd say "goodnight again. I kept doing that till she'd go to sleep. Many times, a good chew toy would be great in a crate at night, shut them up fast. Someone else here taught me to tap lightly on her crate at night, and calmly say "goodnight" or "no". |

| Millie was just the opposite. She would bark in the night, if she was loose in the house. Once I started crating her at night, she stopped completely. We put a blanket over her crate to keep her cocooned and she does fine.

| Hope barks, ALOT, at EVERYTHING, at night. I think she thinks she is protecting me. I find that if I leave a radio on very low it is a steady noise and she doesnt ear every little sound. everyone has a different little secret and this seems to work well for us... d

| baloo is a little over 1 yr old, he had his birthday in November, and my mom crates him. the toy and putting a blanket over the crate idea is definitely something I am going to suggest to my mom. He absolutely loves my mom and I think he just wants to be with her and that's why he barks so much. He follows her everywhere and is always watching her. I wasn't around when they trained him. He's still not potty trained and that's why he doesn't sleep with my parents at night. And they travel a lot so training is inconsistent and often has to start over from the beginning everytime they leave. I have tried to take over the training but he doesn't listen to me, he's such a mamma's boy. hahaha. I'll be getting my own pup on friday, hopefully he'll be MY mamma's boy. thanks everyone for your suggestions! i love yt and will be introducing my puppy soon! |
