| Hi! I also have children (5 of them ages 1-11) and a yorkie pup. He'll be 4 months old on the 15th. (We also have an 11year old yellow lab. When Tucker gets nippy during play I say "no!" firmly and then take my attention away from him for a minute or so. This seems to be working well because he doesn't like our play to stop, so withholding my attention from him seems to help him make the connection that if he plays too rough the game will end. I've also said "no!" And then replaced my hand with one of his chew toys but I wasn't sure if that was confusing to him and he was viewing the toy as a sort of reward for nipping? The nipping seems to start when he is super excited and it's like he just can't control his puppy energy. |
