YT 500 Club Member | All I know is that I'm THANKFUL!!!! I used to have two, but tragedy left me with one perfectly healthy, sweet, fun, attentive, mindful, loving, mostly calm, secure, social, even tempered, tolerant yorkie girl. She is 8 months old. And after reading thirty pages straight of threads here, I am damned grateful for whatever we are doing right that seems to be working. Mind you, she's not perfect. She isn't completely potty trained. Poos outside 90% of the time! Pees inside a lot. Oh well. We deal with it. I happen to LOVE steam cleaning. She happens to like to play "how close can we get to the loud sucking object without losing a toe" game. Sometimes she just won't move as if to challenge it with disregard. It works out well for us for the time being. Two things are an issue. We are working on the face-ear-armpit-neck-hair-whatever she can get at obsessive licking by blocking and repeating NO FACE sternly... She stops but thirty seconds later her Alzheimer's kicks in and next thing you know my ears are clean and you feel violated. This wouldn't be so bad except that one day her breath turned atrocious. Then we caught her gnawing on her poop. We haven't caught her doing that in a long time now, but even when we can account for all poop and we've foamed her mouth for tarter, given her minty breath treats ( we trained her to LOVE using an old toothbrush as a chew toy, so she's always "brushing) her breath is still unbearably bad. It's embarrassing. She doesn't seem to mind. Any thoughts? |

| What kind of food do you feed? Has she been wormed lately? |

YT 500 Club Member | I went from purina ( breeders sent it with me when we got her) to iams, then I slowly switched to Nature's recipe. They hated it. My mom brought me a bunch of Wellness just for puppies, and they refused to entertain that no matter how it was dressed up. So now I stick to the only one that they liked enough to eat dry , which is Royal Canin Yorkshire puppy. And that stuff seems to make a difference in her coat health, too. She loves it. When I switched foods I always integrated the new one slowly and added pumpkin to keep them regular. When I had all the food they were snubbing, my boyfriend would add a watered down spoonful of Caesar ' s wet food to entice them. I have an appointment next week to see the vet. I was actually going to inquire about dewormers and heartworm stuff and all that fun preventive stuff then. Last edited by Opium88; 09-16-2014 at 06:15 AM. |

| Does she have retained puppy teeth? Retained puppy teeth will cause really bad breath! Apparently, food particles get caught between the teeth causing bacteria and fowl smelling breath. My pup had two canine puppy teeth pulled at 8 months and it solved the bad breath problem for her. Hope this helps... |

YT 500 Club Member | Well at what age should they be done teething naturally so I know for sure if they need to be surgically removed? I've owned lots of dogs in my life and this is the first I've ever heard of this. 8 months is still puppy status isn't it, |
