YorkieTalk Newbie! | potty train 10 week puppy to go outside dangerous? Hi Guys, I am planning to potty train my puppy to go outside but I live in an apartment building so I don't have a private backyard. Since she won't have all her shots until she's 4 months, should I not take her outside and just train her to potty indoors? I feel it is important for a puppy to go outside but I don't want to risk her health either. |

| I also live in an apartment building. I trained Buster to go both on a pad indoors in case I can't make it home from work and to go outside. I do know you should avoid common pee areas until all their shots are completed. I will be interested to hear other opinions from people that trained for outside only.

Also, these days, so many dogs have both indoor and outdoor bathrooms. Some dogs with little bladders get infections and kidney stones from having to hold their urine. This article from holistic healthy pets also has some great recipes : ) If you are away extended hours, or live in a place with bad winters, you may want to consider allowing her both options. Even puppy pads are better then your carpet! Holistic Pets on Indoor Dog Toilets What have you been doing?

| You are welcome. Is that you in the video with the piddle place? I had originally gotten a similar product that used dirtless grass instead of the artifical turf but it became to expensive. Your piddle place looks interesting.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Yes, the place where I would take her is used by other dogs. I will definitely wait until she has all her shots and use the balcony for now. Thanks for the link! I am picking up my puppy next week and I want to be fully prepared for when she comes come |

YT Addict | I have a 16 week old male who hasn't touched the ground yet. He gets his rabies and final parvo Sat. and then depending in what vet says we can start going outside. Parvo is very serious you can look it up on the computer to get details. Also, he's not on any heart worm or flea meds yet so I need to get him started before he goes out. You can do inside on p pads with no problem until the vet releases him. He has a front carry pouch so he can go places outdoors with me when I walk my older yorkie. Also, Parvo is transferrable by hands so don't let strangers touch him until he's had his shots atleast two and 7 days after. |
