| I feel so bad I feel like a bad mama. I have NEVER, EVER had this much trouble with potty training! Tilly has only been with us a few days. I understand she's still a baby. But...I feel like i'm failing and i'm tired and grumpy and just want her to "get it" and be able to have her roam the house freely and sleep next to me and my son at night Every puppy i've potty trained has done so well and has been trained without accidents in like a week. I've never had a toy breed before, maybe this has something to do with it? She is doing well in her crate. And last night she gave me 3 hours in one go () But I feel bad. I hate leaving her in her crate, letting her out, then having to put her right back in when she doesn't pee/poo on her pad. So I put her in the kitchen (our kitchen is small) & out a gate up so she can't leave. Her pad is in with her but she hasn't used it once. She pees and poos on the floor instead and then walks all in it and gets it everywhere...I feel like at this rate i'll be giving her a bath multiple times a day! I don't want her to be scared of me or hate me. I love her. I feel like i'm suppressing her puppyness and I just feel bad. I want for her to run around and be happy but by keeping her confined I feel like i'm HURTING her. She finally has her first vet appt tomorrow (supposed to be today but the vet had an emergency) and maybe i'll be told she csn have walks outside? That might help me feel like she is happier. I feel like she think i'm ignoring her. Waaaah this is just a rant |

| I so understand but the bottom line is you do have to restrict them and then reward them. I didn't with Buster at first and he went all over. It's best to confine them to a very small area and always clean up messes with an enzymatic cleaner or they will go back to that sweet scent spot. Good luck at the vet and with training.

| Is there a reason your not taking her outside to potty? Keep kenneling her, take her out of her kennel when you know she has to go. Place her on the pad and when she walks off pick her up and put her back on, over and over till she goes telling her to "go potty". If she hasn't gone after 30mins put her back in her kennel. By kenneling her and then letting her run the kitchen your not being consistent and your confusing her. It may seem like your being mean but puppy's need consistency. Sorry to say but its not the dog fault. |

YT 2000 Club Member | dog It is a day by day job with a lot of patience. Now these Yorkies are smarter than we think. When one of my boys has an accident, I get mad and they see my face and they know what I am mad at. I never hit or hurt them but just the tone of your voice and they go hide under the table. Be firm, and consistent and of course patient. She is smart and will learn. Accidents will happen, this am one of mine peed by the washing machine. I have a husband upstairs fighting a kidney stone so I wasn't happy to see that pee! |

| Relax, your puppy is 9 weeks old, she barely has control of her bladder at this point. Also, don't take her outside until her puppy shots are finished. |

| if you have room and you feel bad about crate training have you thought about an X pen? I potty pad trained mine by using an X pen. They have more room to walk around and you can leave water, food and line the pen with potty pads on the floor. Each week make the pads take up less space in the x pen. Also high reward treats for each potty on the pad. I can't stress enough to treat and praise after each success on the potty pad. . It took one of mine a year before I would trust her out of the x pen without me walking behind her. I know it's frustrating, you need your sleep and you think they will never get it but the first time they walk over to the potty pad and pee and turn around to look at you, your heart will melt into a puddle of goo. Hang in there and be consistent. Your puppy is really a baby right now so have patience. It will get easier.

| Thanks again everyone ☺ She is having to be confined to one of our bathrooms for the time being. Her crate is with her and she has toys that i'm attempting to switch out every other day now. She was diagnosed with Coccidia, and until we get it under control this is the best solution for everyone. I feel bad she is alone in here but i plan on coming in periodically throughout the day to give her company. I'm having some much needed coffee (up every hour sometimes 3 times an hour last night, bless her heart) with her now. She is doing great with her meds, they must taste delicious haha. |
