Keeps peeing in his crate! Cerulean is 5 months old now and this peeing in his crate thing has been happening for the last few weeks. I was following the schedule in the how to housebreak in 7 days book and he was doing amazing at it. Then one day it all stopped. He would bark crazily out of nowhere and we just assumed it was because he wanted to be taken out but nope it was because he peed and didn't want to be near it. After that we then started taking him out when he gave us warning barks thinking we were headed in the right direction...nope. For a minute he would bark we would take him out and he would pee. That soon stopped and we were only getting warning barks after the deed was done and he wanted to get away from it. That's another thing that gets me...he doesn't want to be near it! I've made his space as small as I could with him being comfortable. The last few days I've told the kids to take him out before playtime and after, something we never had to do and it worked great for the most part. Today I forgot to take him out after playtime and when I look over at his crate he is standing, yes standing in the corner of his crate staying as far away from the pee as possible. What is going on? If he doesn't like his pee why do it where he has to be around it?? We're all frustrated because this is a huge step backwards and I don't know how to get him back on track. Before I got him I read that yorkies are hard to potty train but I had no clue it was this frustrating.

Peeing Sorry you are having this training setback. If he was ok before I wonder if he could possibly have a UTI or other urinary issue? He obviously does not like what he is doing and perhaps he cannot help it? Another thing could be stress, has anything major changed in his environment or schedule? Hope you are able to solve this soon as is so distressing when they have these setbacks.

Nothing major has happened except for putting him on a more predictable schedule but it's been this way for over a month. We did go on a road trip last weekend but this started before that. I'll call his vet and see about getting him in to see if it's a UTI.

Peeing Thanks for your reply. If it is a UTI it can hopefully be made better soon, and he will be back on track with the training and back to his good self! It must look so sad when he sits in one corner to get away from his deeds. Please let us know how he is doing.
