Going outside right after an accident ?

Is this a good idea ? I walk Kimberly faithfully every morning before work, and every evening after work. She is crated over the course of the day when I'm not here, and we have virtually no accidents. Now that classes have resumed, however, I'm out a little longer during the day so my boyfriend has been "helping out" with walking her. He lets her out of her cage and she freely roams the house without any type of supervision, and he walks her pretty much whenever he feels like it, if he feels like it, and she usually ends up having accidents whenever he's around.

She never, under any circumstances, poops in the house though. I've never really understood why, but I decided not to question it LOL I'm more concern with her urinating on my floor !!

I'm sure you can all imagine how frustrating that is for me. I feel like all of my training with Kimberly is basically being undone! He usually won't walk her until she has an accident, and once she does, he doesn't even try to clean it, he immediately takes her outside. Now based on my previous training experience with her, I've pretty much picked up that if I consistently follow up with a positive experience after a particular behavior, I'm teaching her to continue to perform that behavior.

So my question is this: if he continues to take her outside immediately after she urinates on the floor, is he unconsciously teaching her to do that whenever she wants to go outdoors ? Or am I just overreacting ?

If you boyfriend is going to help,you might want to ask him to set a timer. When people around here "help" they loose track of time and therefore we end up with an accident.
Kenzie sits and watches me clean it up as I explain that this is not ok. I don't make it a game and I don't yell at her. I just talk sternly. Now if she has an accident she will run to me in a panic.
In answer to your question: yes, I always take her out afterwards. Usually I tell her "this is where you potty". I have 5 dogs right now and this is what I have always done. I don't do potty treats but I do give a lot of praise for pottying in the correct place.

Thanks for your input. I still frown upon taking her out right after, the goal is definitely to get her out before it happens. I just get so annoyed because I know that's he can hold it, she's just so stubborn !!!
