| Transitioning from potty pads to outside??? Yes, another house training question. I (foolishly) trained my yorkies to use potty pads. My first yorkie basically trained himself-he was paper trained and then decided he would rather go outside. I didn't know how lucky I was! So my girls are paper trained...except they also like carpet. I guess they feel like anything warm/soft on the floor is a potty pad. Neat. I want to get them 100% housebroken since I am 1) unemployed and 2) moving into a new house that I don't want to have them crap all over! They love going outside and will potty out there. But they don't have any preference for it. They are totally fine going indoors as well. I go out with them, give them treats and praise when they do, but still they go in the house a solid 50% of the time unless I am on them 24/7. Anyone have any success at this? Any tips? I've tried crating them, but one seriously FREAKS OUT when I try. And poops in her bed to voice her displeasure I just can't convince them that going outside is better than inside! |

| Welcome to YT!! What my Brother did with his Mini Pincher is, he would stick the potty pad next to the door, and whenever he saw her go to use the pad he would say “ Do you need to potty” and then he would take her out to potty, and then reward her. That worked great for her she was potty trained at like 4 months, she is now about 10 years old and kind of having accidents on the rug, but it isn't her fault.. my Brother doesn't always get to her in time. He now put a doggy door in the door to get out to the garage and then a doggy door to get to the back- she has been doing better with that set up.. I know once they get to a certain age you more so have to tend to them. Peanut seems to go on his pad more than going outside too.. I have no idea why. As long as it is one or the other I’m fine with it. How old are your dogs?
