| For those that have a second yorkie. I'm always toying with the idea of getting a second yorkie, so I do alot of reading about it. Some people say to make sure your first dog, always comes first, when you bring in a second dog/puppy. Feed them first, treat them first, greet them first, etc. Some other people say to let the dogs figure out pack order amongst themselves and then reinforce whoever came out as top dog, by doing everything first with that dog. Thoughts on this?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have 3 and each time I brought a new one in I just let them work it out. I never had any problems. All o3 of mine are pretty laid back and were very accepting of a new pack member. I just watched them until I was sure they were all ok together. I kept the new one separated when I was not able to watch them. It is nice to have 2. They are such good company for each other and you.

| I'm excited for you! We did a combination of both -- reassuring Max that he was top dog (because it suits his personality), and letting the guys work things out among themselves. Max comes first, but at the same time, he will let Teddy push him away from his food and water bowls, and things like that. I think you will be pleasantly surprised how naturally everything falls into place.

| I have four (got one at a time) and always let them work out the pecking order. Now I put their food down in their order, but all four get hooked up in the back seat when we go anywhere. I never let any ride up front.

| Magnus is little more laid back than Zoey... With that said, I read the same type of info as you and made it a point to put Magnus first. It's been 2 years since Zoey joined in but she still "tries" to be the alpha of the two. Magnus will put up with it for a while but lets her know when she crossed the line. I think their personality plays a big part seeing how Zoey still tries to dominate Magnus by humping him... Of course, I put a stop to it right away. But it's kind of funny when she does it. Especially b/c of their size difference. LOL |
