Mommy and Daughter

I have two girls, Mom (5 years old) and daughter (2). Over the weekend the daughter attacked the mom. I had to throw her off. It was horrible. I kenneled her, but can't do that all the time. It happend a total of three times. They usually sleep together in the kennel at night. I don't know what to do. Is this normal? I called the vet and the receptionist said to keep them separated always, that there was really nothing to do about it.

Are they spayed? If not, that's the problem...either get them spayed to stop the fighting or you need to rehome one of them, so sorry. If they are spayed, IDK what to tell you, I've never heard of spayed females fighting, esp mom & daughter.
