| Oh Please HELP! Please, I am really considering giving away my yorkie puppy.. Tilly. She is the 3rd yorkie I have had in my life. The other 2 were not at all like her. She is into trouble everywhere she goes. She pees, poops and bites. I feel like a broken record... "stop biting"..."good girl, kisses are good".."Pee on the paper"..."pee on the paper"...PEE ON THE PAPER"!!! She will never "go" outside when it is raining, so she stands in the rain and so do I ..and just gets wet. I bring her back in and she pees or poops on the rug. I put her in her "room" which she can see out and not feel isolated from us, and she will pee on the floor. Not on the wee pads. Sometimes she will, which is what makes it so frustrating. She does know where they are and what they are for. If it is a nice day, I let her out about a billion times. Sometimes she won't go outside and will come in and pee! Yesterday, I had to go out for the afternoon. I put her in her room, gave her her toys and some cookies and water, "checked on her 2 day old spay incision , and left for an hour. Whe I returned, she had "climbed over the 4 foot gate.. sore belly and all, and tore up the house...which was not closed off from her ....because she was "closed in her room"!! I do work 3 days a week. But I am with her...what seems like "endlessly" the other 4 days. We also have 2 teenage girls who absouletly love her and spend all of their post school hours with her! She is 18 weeks old. Please someone....HELP! |

| Hi welcome to YT sorry to hear your are having major probs.. Consistency, im sorry to say is KEY.. have you tried maybe using that lil spray that helps them know where to go? or have some of her pee on a pad and make her sniff it so she knows thats where she has to go? I hope all goes well... good luck to you!

| Whoosh.. what a whirlwind little furbaby you have there. I work with alot of dogs like this and find that crate training can be a big help if not the total answer. Doesn't ALWAYS work but it probably does in 75 percent. A closed off area NEVER seems to work for the peeing and pooping issues for me. I know others say it works for them but I guess I must be doing someting wrong. Also as far as the destruction thing... do you have any other dogs or just the one at this time? I found out that some of my little furangels casn be very well behaved until certain other dogs come around and then it is a free for all rip up everything fest. I have 2 right now that never chew or rip or destroy anything....UNLESS they play together and then it is a free for all. I also have one little guy right now who is taking forever to get the idea of any housebreaking. I keep him in a smaller open top pen in the living room and have a ferret litter box with newspaper in with him. the ferret boxes have the low opening like doggy litter boxes but are half the cost. The open top lets me whip him in and out easily and makes him feel more opened instead of a closed crate. The litter box is because if he can't hold it he will go in the box.. well at least 1/2 of the time which is more then NEVER like when we first started 2 months ago. Some of them take forever to train but you just need to be CONSISTANT. I actually get up 1-3 times everynight depending who is here in the rescue and how new they are. i don't LIKE getting up but I know if I don't then I will be facing a stinky morning and have to decide which I would rather do

| I don't expect a 6 month old baby to get it but she is a dog...who the vet said is full grown by 6months old. My other 2 dogs, both yorkies were so easy to train!! there were "some" mistakes...but by now they both got it. And for both of those dogs I worked full time...I only work part time for this one. And I even have my girls to help with her. |

| Welcome Janoir to YT. Can't wait to see pics of your little one.Housetraining comes down to 2 words, concistency and patience. Some Yorkies get it faster than others. Maybe you should consider crate training. I personally dont crate, but it works for others. When your little one uses the potty praise and even use treats. Good luck with your baby. Try to enjoy the good that will help with the frustration. |

| Thats ok...but yes it is frustrating. The family as a whole..is on double tim! We all scold her if she is biting or peeing or what ever. She usually hurst the girls so they might be even more insistant that she be a good girl. I do want ot keep her and love her. She will have 3 good days and then go crazy for 2 or 3 days . I just have never had it so hard. I have had dogs all my life and as i said Tilly is my 3rd Yorkie. I always heard they were hard to train but my other 2 were just great. I hope she will 'get it" before i "give it up" My girls will be heartbroken. |

| Thanks I do keep her in a crate when she sleeps. But I work 3 days a week and I am gone for 9 hours. My cage is too small to leave her in it. She WILL pee in her crate anyway. I lock her in the laundry rooom when I work and she will pee and poop on the wee pads while in there...but let her out....and in one min ...she will pee. I do all the treat rewards and praises that I can think of that's why I came on to yorkie talk to see if anyone has any new ideas. |

| i am far from being an expert here but i know what you are going thru. i also had a rough time with ahia and was unsure if i did the right thing when we first got her. it seemed like it was losing the battle. consistancy was the key. i had to keep an eye on her every moment. what i did was to offer a treat every time she pottied out side. that was the only time she got a treat for a while. she got the idea eventually. even faking a peeing to get a treat. when i caught her peeing on the floor i would startle her and say out and take her immidately out. she will even scratch or bark at me in the middle of the night to wake me up when she has to go out. i got good advice on YT. chose one method and stick with it. time will make it all easier. hang in there.
