| alarm clock Ok I need HELP!!! My Gidget as I discussed before seems to think she is an alarm clock. Every morning she stands at the bedroom door and barks until we get up and go in the living room. I tell her no and even sprayed her with the water bottle(she thinks its funny) and nothing works. The water bottle doesn't phase her one bit. I think she thinks its funny. Any training ideas? She's driving us crazy in the morning. |

| That's kinda funny really!! I too don't get to sleep in but I don't get barks as your Gidget gives, I get licks up my nose or in my mouth. Well, you said the water shooting from the bottle doesn't work...Have you tried ignoring her? Maybe her "game" is to get your attention. As Schatzie, her biggest and happiest rambunctious (sp) time is in the morning. So, just maybe if you ignore Gidget she will realize that you won't be her play partner and maybe go find a toy or chewy somewhere to pacify her until you are ready to get up. Just make sure she has a pee-pee pad, fresh water, kibble, or all the extra things to take care of those needed necessities in the mornings. Good luck! Let us know how it works with her.

| I wish!!! Sydnee gets me up at 2 am and then at 6 am everyday. I was use to getting up if I wanted to working in my pjs at my desk if I wanted to; but my Yorkie alarm clock waits almost an hour after she awakes me to wind down again. Then I am wide awake, so if you find a solution I would be so so grateful.

| This has been going on for several weeks and we tried to ignore her but she says no way. I've tried for over an hour but she's relentless. She has water, food, pee pad a yorkie brother, a dally sister and 2 kitty friends that all love to play with her including chew toys etc. She has decided that she is the queen of the house not me. I need to re-position her back to princess instead. HAHA |

| Do you let Gidget sleep in your bed? I let Tinker sleep with me, and I have a ramp next to my bed so she can get up and down on her own. It seems to work for her, because if she wants to go potty she can or she can just sleep next to me until I get up. I wouldn't get up everytime she barks, because she thinks she has trained you to get up and that is why she does it every morning. I know you said ignoring her won't work, but that really is the best thing. You need to get her to realize that you don't get up until you want to. Try it on a Sat. or something when you don't have to go anywhere. It may be annoying to sit there half asleep listening to her barking, but once she stops I would get up. That way she starts getting the idea that it is you who is incontrol and not her. See that is a yorkies biggest thing, they seem to think they run everything.I would try it just one more time, but the second she is quiet jump up so she can associate it. I would try and make her sit before you open the door so maybe she will associate sitting at the door to getting up, and then she will just sit there in the morning instead of bark. Good Luck!!! |
