| All Graduated I'm soooo proud of my little pup. She's all graduated from puppy kindergarten (an 'obedience class' for puppies). In order to graduate, she had to show three things she learned to the whole class. She did a great sit, watch me and down. And then I told her to sit, and stay, walked about 15 yards backwards and asked her to come to me. She did it all perfect and without hesitation!!! I'm sooo proud. |

| That is so great! the time and energy you invest now is so priceless on the bonding and relationship you will develop. I am a firm believer in obedience training. It is so important. Congratulations! |

| Congrats!!! We tried the puppy classes when Gus was done with his shots, but he was not having it. He just did not do well at all. I guess you can say he buckled under the pressure. I had better luck with working with him here at home. He can sit, shake, lay down, stay, dance, and he knows his bunny and he knows his ball. I could empty all his toys on the floor and ask him to bring me his ball and he will sniff and search till he finds it. The same for his bunny.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Congratulations! Believe me, it's worth it. I signed up for obedience for no other reason than to get Eddie to come when I called him, and today it paid off. I let him off the leash at the park, another dog barked and Eddie took off. I got him to stop with some frantic screams, but he just stood there, about 25 yards away, looking at the other dog. Finally, I did the "Eddie, come!" that we do in class, and he turned around and sprinted toward me. That one instance made the obedience class pay for itself, because the other dog was across a street.

| Thanks everybody. Trixie was 5 months when we got started. I started it because Trixie is my first dog and I want to make sure we are doing things right. Not only bonding between me and her, but also to socialize her with other dogs. It was sooooo worth it. She has learned a lot and we had a lot of fun. |

| Great i was wondering what tests they went through. i am in puppy class. kinda older than the rest but since she is small she got in. mine now is 10 months and the rest are 4 and 5 to even 6 months. She is learing. She does the stay very well, sit all the time, leave it and she comes around me and sits and looks at me to see if i am going to give her something if not i tell her take it and click an she will take it. Our class is with the clicker. She just started to lay. Before she would find a way to get around my hand with the treat. The lose leash walking sometimes goes great which brings me to my next sentence. I know for a fact that if i let her go and she does this, i call her and SHE DOESNT come becuase she is soo happy running around and barking at kids walking on sidewalk and cars and all. She is into her own world. The only way she comes after me is when i run away from her. Need to practice the come command more. But this will be our next class. So we will see. I think she will pass. Funny, its liek having a real child. I cant wait. Congratulations!!! Last edited by YorkieChanel; 09-29-2005 at 12:29 PM. |

| It's really not a test, just a fun night. We had to show three things we learned in front of the class. But I'm sure if Trixie wouldn't have done it perfect, she would still get her certificate. I think the tests will be coming with the more advance obedience training... |
