| Please help!! Potty training madness!! I've had Cohen for 2 months now, and he has been pad trained quite well. I haven't wanted to start taking him outside because it's so cold out where I live. He has done fine with the pads, but then this week I noticed him having some accidents in the living room which was unlike him. And then, this morning when we got up he ran and jumped on the couch. When I came in the room there was a huge wet spot on the couch where he had peed!! He has never done anything like this at all. I'm so confused!! What am I doing wrong? |

Thor's Human Donating Member | Maybe he's been talking to Thor. Sorry, I know that's not helpful. If it's any consolation, I have shut myself in my living room for a month now in an effort to completely house train Thor, and after three weeks of excellent work, he peed on my rug twice yesterday. Anyway, hope someone has a better answer for you. Good luck! |

| Cohen is about six months old now, isn't he? I suspect he is marking his territory. Are you planning on getting him neutered? I'd do it asap before the habit becomes impossible to break. |

| I really hope he is not marking..but I'm afraid that may be it as well. I do plan to get him neutered some day but I was hoping to wait until he is a bit older. I have been watching him very closely all day and basically started potty training all over again. |

| Why are you waiting until he is older to get him neutered? If his marking behavior becomes well established, he will very likely continue marking after being neutered. |

| Cohen must have been talking to Thor and my Rudy. Rudy is almost five months old now, and had made his Momma so proud by learning to potty on the pads consistently a few weeks after moving in. Heck, a few times he peed just off the pad, but that still counted since his back feet were on the pad. I figured he just learned so quickly by watching Toby. The last few weeks he has made me feel like I am losing my mind. He will be running through the house playing and stop in mid stride to dribble on the floor. And now he has taken to leaving a few well placed little poops here and there, nowhere near the pad. I figure this is all my fault since I actually bragged to a friend how well he was doing in the potty training department, and now have to pay some sort of bizarre penance for bragging. We have now become potty training commandos again, and he is confined at all times when we are not able to watch him every moment. Sighhhhh ..... maybe I will get to brag again in another few months

| I have been waiting to get him neutered because one of my friends has suggested that we let her female yorkie and Cohen mate. When I bought Cohen, I never even considered breeding him, but after my friend mentioned it, I'm confused about what to do, since I trust this person. I still have some thinking to do before I decide whether or not that's a good idea, so I've been postponing neutering him for now. (If you have any insight to that, I'm all ears.) |

Breeding is a very serious endeavor and Cohen would needs lots of expensive testing (liver, eyes, knees, etc.) before being used as a stud. Is it worth it for one time? Is it worth having to deal with his undesirable behavior changes for the rest of his life? | |

| Oh my goodness, he is definitely marking! This morning my baby hiked his leg up and peed on my curtains! I couldn't believe it, my jaw literally dropped! So unless someone has a miracle story about how they got their dog to stop marking, I'm calling the vet today to make an appt to get him neutered. |
