| Newbie...Help? Hi! I am 18 years old and i got my Yorkie 2 days ago! My boyfriend bought him for me for valentines day. (What a sweetheart) I absolutely adore him! He is 10 weeks old. I am starting to potty train him and I am wondering what is better/easier to do....Training pads or outside? And also, I am starting to crate train him. Any advice on that?? We will also be starting a training class the weekend after valentines day. Any advice will help! Thanks so much! |

| Hi and welcome, There was a thread on here a couple weeks ago about Housebreaking your dog in 7 days. It is all about crate training, and even has a schedule that you can use to structure your dog's time. If you can't find the thread, there is a book by the same name. I prefer outside training to pads. Puppy classes will be great! That is a wonderful way to bond to your new baby. Best wishes.

| I agree with katelin. I prefer outside training rather than pee pad training, but that's my own personal opinion. Everyone is different and one method may work better for one person than it does another. Congrats and your new baby and welcome to YT! |
