| Help he is ruining my house My one year old has started chewing up my mouldings, kitchen cabinets and window sills in my kitchen. He stays in the kitchen when I go out and when I return something new is chewed up. I have tried all kids of things, like hot sauce, deodorant, apple bitters, he just moves on to another area I haven't thought about like me window sill. I can't cover all my cabinets with stuff! I am resorting to leaving him in his crate when I have to go out, but I feel bad for him, but I do not want to replace my cabinets any time soon, even though they are looking horiffic with chuncks chewed off. What can I do to stop this behavior? |

| Have you thought about keeping him in an xpen when you cant watch him. If the other things didnt deter him from chewing thats the only answer I know. Also give him things hes allowed to chew on like bullysticks

| Thats whats so weird, he has so many toys all different kinds, chew bones, fluffy ones, rope ones, but he preferswood, besides the fact that it can't be good for him to be eating paint and wood. I really don't have an area to xpen him where there is no wood to chew on so I guess I have to crate him when I'm out. |

| I had to give up my dining room and put Canyon's X-pen in there as he too is a wood chewer if given the opportunity and I hated leaving him in a crate when I left him. I bought one of those heavy duty tarps like they use to cover stuff in the back of a pick up truck to use as the floor and set the x-pen on top, now he has an 18 sq ft play area with everything he needs in there and he can't ruin my carpet or eat door frames, etc. |

| Well using my dining room isn't so much an option, I have a very heavy table I would have nowhere to store. The tarp idea, he would rip it to shredds, I have never seen such a small dog do so much damage. I'm usually home and only out for maybe 3 hours here and there throughout the day, so I guess I have to crate him. He doesn't mind it he likes his crate. How long does this behavior usually last? |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Roxie is 13 months old and in the last 2 months she has started chewing everything. I caught her chewing on the ledge of the new windows I just had put in. She has run of the back of the house with the other 3 and I don't think I can go back to crateing her so I just have restricted them all to the masterbedroom (where I am when I'm home and the hall and bathroom. I just do a check everytime I leave to make sure nothing is where she can get at it. I find she gets things more when I am home and not paying attention. She can get in troubel in 2 minutes.

| I hope it ends soon, I'm going to try and fix the window sill, even though it will never look the same, but the cabinets are just ruined. I always tell him he's lucky he's cute. Thanks for your help. |
