| Using Diapers During Pee Pad training [F]I was wondering if I used a diaper on my yorkie puppy in the house during potty training do you think it would work? I was going to put the diaper on him and a hour and a half after every meal as scheduled I would take him to the litter box where the pee pads are and see if he would go and keep repeating this just to avoid the constant carpet cleaning? I would also schedule times in between. Has anyone tried this? [/FONT] |

| Welcome to YT!! I have never thought of that, I use diapers at night on my chi because she sometimes will go down to the end of the bed and pee on the comforter!! Most nights she doesn't pee in the diaper but sometimes she does. So I am just wondering if this will teach the puppy just to go in its diaper instead of on the pad?? It is an interesting question though and am interested in seeing other's ideas and comments. Good Luck!!

| I use diapers on Holly only at night. The first time she peed and pooped in them was the last time she did that. She has been dry ever since. She did not like having dirty panties one bit. If you are going to use the diapers during the day, I suggest you order some cloth ones with velcro closures. The paper ones just don't stay on well at all. I ordered mine from Senior Pet Products, The world's largest source of products and information for aging dogs and cats. They might seem costly at first, but one diaper will cost you the same as a couple small packages of the disposable ones, and, they stay on much better.

| Diapers are my lifeline! Hi, I am just currently graduated from High School and now I am a full time college student...I have had a VERY hard time trying to train my little man. He wears diapers all the time! They have become a lifeline for me. He has to stay in a crate during the day, but as soon as I let him out...he dashes to the door and I go outside with him. He does his business outside, and then we come back inside and I put a diaper on him. He just hasn't grasped the idea that you are supposed to keep going outside to potty. haha Well, Petland and Petsmart both sell diapers, but if you do not live near them, I have found that buying baby diapers and cutting the tail out also works GREAT!! I hope you get you little baby trained soon and without the trouble I have had...haha |
