| teaching a harness and leash OK Is it too early to think about getting him used to a harness and leash .. at what age should I get him use to it? He is only 9 wks so I am not needing to force the issue.. I was thinking around 4 months when a bit bigger. On a side note I am extremely glad to find this site and have someone to chat with about my yorkie. |

| I don't think it is ever too early to get them used to it. I would start by graudually letting your pup get used to wearing the harness in the house for longer periods of time. Then once used to that start attaching the leash. Good luck.

| Congrats on your new furbaby! We are fairly new too, we have Addie for 8 months now and we are still so happy!! Watch your baby though, he will grow everyday until about 6 months, so get an adjustable harness. We got one right away and kept it on her at all times. That way, when we took her out we just attached the leash. I only take it off when bathing and we have charms and Rabies tag on so that we can hear her around the house. I did not know they grow so much, one week she had extra room and then I took her be groomed the next and they were letting me know her harness was too tight and it was at the last hole. You will be amazed how fast they grow. I was so blessed to find this site as well, there's lots of knowledge here. Welcome!!
