Panorama Panorama tonight, at 9, has an undercover report at one of the largest chains of veterinary surgeons. It says it uncovered very questionable practices including poorly treated animals, procedures carried out by unqualified staff, exorbitant bills often including things not actually done & a worrying lack of concern by staff. My vet doesn't belong to a chain, this or any other, but I think it will still be worthwhile to watch what can & sometimes does occur when we trust our animals to supposedly caring professionals.

OOps I was logged out! I hope this will not be a repeat! Hi there, we haven't been in touch for ages! I hope all is well with you and yours? I have not been on the forum much either. I saw this programme and was so upset by it. I mistakenly thought that people who qualified as vets, or veterinary nurses, were people who cared about animals. I know better now. It makes me furious that we have to worry about our pets being roughly or carelessly treated, when they are at their most vulnerable. It is upsetting enough that your pet is ill or has had an accident. I left a vet who carelessly took animals temps without using vaseline. Tootsy screamed, as did other dogs. I told him off and he looked at me as though I was a complete neurotic - I left. I have yet to find a vet that I am satisfied with, but I will keep on looking. What infuriated me on the programme, was that it seems that these vets and veterinary nurses, virtually get away with poor practice! Hugs, Yvonne xx

Hi Yvonne. How are you? And Tootsie of course Lovely to see you posting, I haven't been around much either lately. My vet has just started to charge an extra £10 on the consulting fee if you want a Saturday appointment! xx Meggie

Hi Meggie I am fine, thanks, and so is little Tootsy. We are enjoying the sunshine!!! Imagine adding £10 to a vet app. on a Saturday! It costs so much to see a vet anyway and you don't need extra charges added on! I took Tootsy for an annual checkup. Have a look on the main forums under health. Cost a fortune, but I am happy to know she is fine. Hugs Yvonne xx
