| Puppy mill, what can I do? We got our little Tina from a woman in Missouri just under two years ago. When my boyfriend went to pick her up, he saw (and took pictures of) about 100 yorkies and other small breeds in small chicken wire cages in a barn. When we had paid for Tina, we kept trying to contact the breeder about when we could pick her up, she avoided us for almost a week! He finally drove out there to pick her up, and she still didn't want to give up our dog! She finally let go, but she was really rude. So, once we brought our little girl home, she disappeared off the face of the 'net! I haven't been able to locate her online for over a year, but today, I tried again and ran across her website. She has over 10 females and five males that she breeds listed on her site, and WHO KNOWS how many more that she doesn't show online. Anyway, our dog has had SEVERAL genetic problems, and hasn't ever been in good health because she was such a runt, but I'd NEVER return her to the conditions she came from! So, what can I do about shutting her down? I never really realized what horrible conditions she was raised in until I saw posts on here of other puppy mills, and I thought, that looks exactly like where she came from!!! I guess my question is, what can someone do about a puppy mill that they know exists? I've got her address, website, and phone number. Would the ASPCA go out there if we reported poor living conditions? I know that in some cities and states it is illegal to own that many dogs. Well, anyway, here is the link to her site. Let me know what y'all think about it! http://www.yorkiesrus.bizland.com/index.html And Cheryl Nims, if you are on YT, I want you to know that what you are doing is WRONG!!!

| Call me crazy but all those pictures looked fake (like photoshop or something). I would call the ASPCA, PETA and any other animal rights organization I could think of, but I don't know if you'll get any help. Getting the word out about her on this forum is a good start though. Its heartbreaking what these so-called "breeders" do to those puppies. Good Luck!!

| Tina is AKC registered, but her Sire isn't pictured on her site. She said she owned both her parents. Makes me wonder???

| if you have photos, make sure you send them when you report this. yes...contact the spca, local animal control, and akc if she registers them w akc. send all of them the photos. this should assure a shut down. but don't let her know you are doing this. she could clean up the area before they get there. good luck to you and let us know what is happening with this.

| Those pictures on that website are DEFINITELY photoshopped in. Not true-life pics. What a scam, and what a shame for all those pups in her care. I just don't see how people can treat animals that way, all in the name of the almighty dollar. |

| If the pictures represent the true living conditions..please please don't waist anytime reporting this!!!! Every minute that passes could mean the needless suffering of these babies. Notify the ASPCA, the local shelter,Have them check out the situation NOW. As stated above...don't let this breeder know that you are having her investigated before hand..

| Concern about puppy mill Hello: I am looking for a Cairn Terrier as a companion for another Cairn who I already own. I found an adorable one for sale at NextDayPets.com. I contacted the seller, Cheryl Nims in Lamar, Mo., but later thought I should do some Internet research on her to make sure she was not running a puppy mill, as I understand they are pretty common in Missouri and I wanted to make sure I was buying the dog from a reputable source. Anyway, the Net is most revealing, and that is where I found out that Ms. Sims is a breeder of Yorkies, and where I found your message. I suspect she may also breed Cairn Terriers as well and I am very concerned about the entire situation there. I want to know if you ever found out who you could report her to, and if any investigation of her breeding facility was ever done. I am so opposed to puppy mills or any other form of cruel treatment to animals, so please let me know. Thank You! |
