Hi guys....its been a while, but I am back... We had our first litter of pups in early 2006, and it was an awsome experience. Mom was GREAT, and the puppies grew to be healthy adorable little babies that went to great parents, even a fellow Yorkie Talker, who lived in my area.
We took a coupld of heats off, and we are at it again, a little unexpected though. We were away, and the our Dog Walker, allowed all the dogs to PLAY together, and didn't realize our Princess was in Heat. So when she figured it out, it was a little late to stop anything! So here we are.....
We have two homes here, and my Mom is in her house, and owns two female Yorkies. In my house, I own one Male Yorkie and two other dogs that are fixed. My question is, should we keep my Mom's 2nd female in MY house, with my other 3 dogs, while Princess gives birth, and during the first few weeks....that was my plan, because I have read on here, that the Mom's sometimes get very protective of their babies, and can sometimes hurt them herself as a way to protect them. Even though both Females are very close, I just don't want to take any chances. So if you do recommend we separate them, which is the plan.....for how long? And how and when is it safe to introduce her to the puppies?
Thanks guys, you are all awsome, and hopefully I can help other's too now that I am back. |
