| I would call an emergency vet right away! I've never personally delt with this type of thing with my litters, but I would call them right away. I am not sure if they can save the baby, but they may want you to bring mom in to make sure everything else is ok. Let us know what happens and I will pray for this little baby and his litter mates to make it through!

| Thank you so much. I have a call in to my vet. I've never had this happen before either. He's active. I just need for them to call me back to see what I need to do. |

| I'm sorry to hear that. I'd get her to the vet asap. They can do a surgery if they deem it necessary. Congratulations on the big healthy litter. |

| I live in a small town and there is no emergency vet close. My vet never returned my call. That's not like him. Anyway, the little boy is doing fine. He's very active and sucked milk for me. I have him all wrapped up, keeping him warm, and he's in my bed with me. All the other babies are doing good. Thanks for everything. |

| Oh that's good, he sounds well taken care of . I don't believe they l can live like that hon. Vets will decide if the surgury is worth doing or do otherwise. I just want you to be prepared. I'll be praying for you guys. Susan |

| Not too long ago there was a person whose yorkie had a puppy the same way. The puppy would nurse and was doing good. But he only lived a few days. And their vet said the puppy could not live that way, it was just a matter of time. I will try finding the thread for you.

| Found it!! The vet did say they could do surgery but it was very costly with a very low survival rate. Here is the link, go to page 3. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ght=intestines

| It's called an Omphalocele. I know that babies can be born with this also. They need surgery ASAp to survive. I think the intestines need to be kept moist so they do not die |

| For a "large" omphalocele (most of the abdominal organs, including intestine, liver, and spleen are present outside the abdominal cavity), the repair is done in "stages" and may include the following: Initially, sterile, protective sheeting is placed over the abdominal organs. Because the abdomen may be small and underdeveloped, it may not be able to hold all of the organs at once. Therefore, the exposed organs are gradually moved back into the abdomen over several days or weeks. The abdominal wall is closed surgically once the organs have been returned to the abdominal cavity. |
