Evaporated Milk VS. Goats Milk I went to get the ingredients for whelping pudding and the goats milk, karo syrup, and egg yolk, water mixture that Mardelin had posted for others. I was checking the nutritional labels for evaporated milk and goats milk and they are exactly the same. The only difference was one is $.79 and the other is $3.79. What is the difference and could I just use evaporated milk instead of goats milk? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. We are having 2 litters due Aug 4th and we found out today between our girls we could have anywhere from 10-12 puppies so I thought it would be a good idea to keep the ingredients handy.

I've always used the Goats Milk.....but, only do it the first 24 hours. It's a recipe that was handed down to me by my mentor......I've never tried it with the evaporated milk. However, I do use the evaported milk for the whelping pudding that I feed mother throughout the time she's nursing. It's worked for me, so I haven't questioned it. And only use it initially just to give mother strength and help with milk production.

I was reading a book called the On the Road to Westminster or something like that and the breeder said she fed her newborns evaporated milk which surprised me. I forgot that until you just mentioned it.

milk Breeders say goats milk is easier to digest, with fewer bowel upsets. I have used both and mine gets loose stools with both..but not too bad.

if we only use the first 24 hrs. Then what do we give them while nursing?
