| Aca ?? I just came across a website and I was actually surprised by what I saw. This person is breeding chocolates. I called and asked how she handles the AKC registration and she informs me that they haven't used AKC in about 10 years. Then she tells me they use ACA. I then ask her if they even recognize chocolates.. Then either she hung up on me or she lost her connection because she was on a cell phone. ANyway any thoughts?

| IMO it's people like her that should NOT be allowed to breed. A good breeder will breed to improve the standard not bring it down. JMO |

| Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I knew Chocolate colors aren't recognized by AKC and I just assumed that they weren't recognized by any of the groups.

Thinking outloud here, but....I'm wondering, if you do reg a non-standard color dog, will AKC limit the restrictions on the dog and allow you to register off-spring from it? Anyone know? | |

Misty, The only thing the AKC does is allow you to register purebred. If you DNA these Chocolates and find that their Sire/Dam are registered that's all that is important to the AKC. As both of us know that 2 correctly patterned/standard colored yorkies can produce the off color yorkies...so, if someone breeds the chololates their offspring can be registered too. Same as the tri colored. Did I answer your question....a bit long winded. The only thing that they are restricted from is entering the ring.

| I don't like the looks of the chocolate. To me, a Yorkie isn't a Yorkie if it's brown. Looks more like a poodle/yorkie mix. This is jmo...apples and oranges....

| Totally agree with you. Although, they are very cute, I don't understand if you want and love yorkies why you would want anything less than what is described in the standard

| mixtures I don't like the so called "designer dogs" Yorkie-Poo, Ladbrdoodle. I think I'll mix a Bulldog with a Shih Tsu and call it a Bull Shih. LOL Probably could make some $$$. Just kidding. |
