| Milky "cream color" discharge Hi there, I noticed some cream color discharge from my dogs vagina. Could this be the start of a heat cycle? She is 2 yrs old. Can anyone tell me more about this, as I just noticed it today. She is also sleeping more. I have breeding rights to her, so when would she be able to mate, or is ready to? Thanks kindly, E.D.

| Yes, she went into heat before...the last time I can recall (where she bled, and it being her first) was Jan 06, 1 year ago. I don't know if she had another since then, if so it may have been "silent". Thanks.

| I haven't experienced Hannah in heat yet, I dread it. Do they get bloody stuff all over your house? I hope its not real messy. |

| It's just spotty, so you have to put a diaper on her. Most times the dog will keep herself clean by licking itself...

| problem She needs the vet...sounds like an infection...can be minor, but minor can be seriosu if left too long..as with humans, infections can lead to scarring of the tubes, uterus, making breeding a problem..best wishes |

| Ovulation occurs usually on the 11th day of estrus so there would still be bleeding at that time.

| That milky discharge really could be completely normal. I still, however would have her looked at by your vet just in case. Don't stress, it's probably nothing, but still worth checking "just in case". |

| Just a follow up. The discharge was normal, it was preparation for onset of heat. She began to bleed approximately 2 weeks after this discharge showed.. and the discharge was only for a day or 2.

| CeCe I am glad to hear this..because I have never found a "creamy" discharage to be normal...a clear, sticky one, yes, but if it is thick there tends to be an infection...but alls well that ends well... The onset of the heat cycle can clear an infection or it can become worse..in this case it cleared it out... |
