I just had my first litter on 8/19 and found a wonderful website. Let me get to it so I can copy the url and I'll get back to you with it. It made me feel so much better about what to expect, what to have prepared, and what to do in case something went wrong. It also helps as the pups grow older. Best of luck to you!

My female is due October 30th and it will be my first litter as well. A breeder recommended this book to me: The Whelping and Rearing of Puppies by Muriel P. Lee. I purchased it through Amazon.com

I have several books, but I think the best one I have on this is "how to buy your toy dog and raise it inexpensively" by Terri Shumski. On top of the clarity (including pics) of what to expect and how to deal with it, the proceeds of this book still go to the Fannie Mae liver shunt foundation. We're all pulling for you.
