| How many and how long? Hi! I'm not a breeder or am I breeding but I had a question and I knew I'd find the most correct answer here My boyfriend's mom is breeding Diggy (in my avatar) and she has agreed to give me a puppy. I would just like to know how many does a Yorkie usually have in a litter (approx.) and how long after they have mated will she give birth? The only thing I know about breeding are hamsters, haha ;') I'm just really excited because I absolutely ADORE Diggy and can't wait to have a puppy. My family has Dachshunds but since I moved out, I've wanted a puppy and I've wanted a Yorkie, so this works out!

| Hm, Diggy is approx. 6-8lbs and he was the runt of the litter. His dad is ... huge for a Yorkie actually. The bitch I believe is the same size as Diggy and weight as Diggy, I've only seen a picture of her, but they tell me she's around his size.

| Gestation is 63 days (9 weeks). Count from her first breeding for her first due date. |

Number of pups varys. There have been some people to only have one or two in a litter, someone not long ago had 7, I believe, which is rare. I would say average for a yorkie is 3 or 4....simply because that is what I hear about most often. But the number and vary. | |

| Hey I've breed hamsters. That whole 14 day gestation and 13 babies is great. I wish Yorkies worked that way too. Unfortunatly you have to wait up to 63 days and only get a few babies.

| Many YTers have gotten 6 and 7 in a litter, but I believe the normal is 3 to 4. |

| You can have an ultra sound or x-ray done towards the end of the pregnancy that will give you a good estimate if not an exact number as to how many to expect. Really, this should be done regardless for various reasons. |
