2 weeks old pups - feeding??? Hi, Malanbre Insolent Miss Penny (penny) give birth to 4 boys and 1 little girl, 2 weeks ago - (I will get some photos downloaded so that you can see them grow!). I am a newish breeder and would appreciate some advise from the experienced breeders, as to what to start feeding??? The pups are very healthy, as Penny is such a good mum. Last year i used lactol with tinned butchers tripe food mixed in the milk - the pups loved it, shall i use the same again??????? Will be starting in a few days?????:

I think 4 weeks is soon enough to start offering food (maybe earlier if their large pups). I'm not exactly sure the nutritional content of tripe, but I don't think one food can meet all of the nutritional needs of puppies. I would suggest you feed them the dry food you plan on feeding them soaked with lots and lots of water (maybe even add a little bit of can) and then slowly reduce the moisture until they are eating just dry. Also keep small sized dry food available at all times. You might want to consider purchasing a special stainless steel puppy bowl for feeding litters. It has a hump in the middle so the puppies gather around it in a circle and don't step in the food. Seems to keep everyone cleaner.

No.... wait till at least 4 weeks to wean puppies. Mom milk is the best for them right now. I mix Science Diet's puppy with a bit of cottage cheese.... get it really mushy and they love it! Good Luck!

| We start our puppies at 4 weeks old. Warning... don't make up a lot though....at first they will only play with it and eat very very little. They will end up wearing a lot more of it than they eat Get the camera out! It's sooo cute!

thank you lacysmom for the advice regarding feeding pup. they are 3 weeks old today!!! 3 huge boys and boy and girl small. I have today started them on Beta (Purina) Puppy Food, mashed down with lctol - the big lads loved it, and the little ones were the first to dive in on it!!!! They are all going to toilet on the paper, playing alot, and do seem to be advanced for their age, (compared to the last litter), is that possible?????
